Sharing our faith

On Wednesday 22nd November a group of us met in the Hall. The evening started with a welcoming cup of tea or coffee. Sharing our faith means different things and the first part of the evening was spent exploring our reasons for attending. The evening was totally unstructured, everybody contributed in their own way and we felt comfortable in each other’s company. It was a lovely way to spend an evening and afterwards everybody said how much they enjoyed it.

Our aim was to strengthen the parish community. One suggestion Fr Murtagh came up with was that we could say our name when we give each other the sign of peace during mass! Not very revolutionary but, in the long term, it could help to bring us closer together.

After some tasty dishes and informal chats we decided to meet again on Wednesday the 17th January. We all said we would try and bring a friend. Fr Murtagh said a short prayer and we left knowing each other a bit better.

Do try to come along in January. Everybody is welcome. There is no preparation. If you came to this event: bring a friend to the next and/or invite somebody who you think might like to come. You are especially welcome if you are new or feel you want to become part of our parish community.

If you can, bring a simple healthy/traditional dish for us all to dip into during the second half of the evening. But, more importantly, bring yourself: we would love to meet you, make you welcome and help you feel more at home at St Columba’s.

Phone Fr Murtagh or Denis O’Brien (020 8657 4148) if you do not like coming out at night and we will help.
