St Columba’s Art Group—annual exhibition

St Columba’s Art Group produced its fourth annual exhibition on the weekend of 12th and 13th of May 2006.   Yes, our fourth exhibition!  However the exhibition is just a small part of our work but perhaps the busiest.  To our delight we are still going strong and becoming even stronger as more members join our happy band.

The exhibition opened on Saturday afternoon with a private viewing. This was followed by open showings on Saturday evening and all day on Sunday.  Works on display ranged from Japanese flowers, scenes from Peruvian life, Malawian night skies, exotic birds and animals, still life, modern abstracts and many more.

Visitors to the exhibition were impressed by the diversity and depth of the work and commented that the standard improved each year.   This was nice to hear and a great compliment.   We would like to thank everyone who visited our exhibition, as our chief aim is to show the parish what we do and without your participation it would be an anticlimax.

We are a group, not a class, we learn from each other.   We comprise two professionals who help and encourage us in our efforts and some very proficient amateur artists.   Some like myself are beginners who just want to improve.   So we have a very wide level or variety of expertise.

A number of parishioners showed an interest in joining us and we would welcome them wholeheartedly.   Our new year starts in September after a break for summer and it would be an ideal time for newcomers to join us.   We meet in the hall every second Friday from 10am to 1pm.   Please phone Maureen Coffey on 0208 651 1172 or Debbie Bennett on 0208 680 5012 for further details.

The date of our first meeting will be announced in the Parish Newsletter
