It's not a disease nor a cold in the head,
It happens to us all, unless we are dead.
Three score and ten - so you've made it then!
Is the message you get from family and friend.
Then you look in the mirror and see someone other
Than the brown-haired girl whose hair used to curl
So who is this woman who looks like my mother?
When your children look old and you always feel cold
Could it be that you're nearing the end?
But hang on, there is a good side to all this
When a little voice says ‘Please Grandma give me a kiss’.
Then a hug and a cuddle when you sort out their muddle
And the fun and the laughter you know will come after.
The friends from way back, whom you love and treasure
They never hold back but give in full measure
All that you need when the going gets rough
And you're there for them if their life gets tough.
As time goes by and joints start to seize
Who cares about that, you can do as you please.
No need to rush, those days are over
Sit back and watch whilst the youngsters take over.
So seventy is something you don't just survive,
Before you know it - you're seventy-five!
