Parish profiles — line dancing

Did you know the LINE DANCING class on Monday evenings in the Church Hall is still continuing after seven years? This was started after a Line Dancing demonstration at a UCM meeting and was attended with great enthusiasm for a long while.

The numbers have decreased recently, but a small core of mixed ability and ages still get together to ‘quick-ball-change’, ‘lock step’, ‘shuffle’ and ‘monterey turn’. Sounds a bit technical? Not really, it’s easy to learn under the direction of Brian, a brilliant dance teacher, and best of all it just adds to the fun if you go wrong. As well as learning dance routines, which keep you fit, it really is a great social occasion, meeting up each week with strangers who have become friends. There are also opportunities to attend Weekend Line Dancing Breaks and Christmas Party events when we meet up with Maureen and Brian’s other classes and all look forward to renewing acquaintances.

We do wonder how long this can continue with such small numbers and feel it would be a great shame to lose this opportunity to meet up, keep healthy and have fun. Classes are on Monday evenings 8.15 to 9.45 pm and cost only £3.50, on attendance. And don’t think this is just for the ladies, our group is equally made up of male members and they’re not the ones with two left feet!  We do need more members to keep this tradition going so please come along, under no obligation, and join in the fun. Just turn up on a Monday or if you want more details give Brian a ring on 0208 658 1122.
