The sunbeams dance down from a shaft out of heaven
the perfume soars up where the lark sweetly sings
and that’s why these flowers wear celesitial colours
the delicate texture of angels’ wings
And deep in the heart of the sweet passion flower
the stamens are formed as the calvary cross
Stained by the blood of Our Lord’s crown of thorns
Marked by the tears that were shed for his loss

Bravely…
Bravely the knight rides out to fight
Bravely the dark commandeers the night
Bravely the cat hears a dog’s bark,
Bravely the sun defeats the dark.
Bravely the viol fights a strong bass’ tone.
Bravely the new girl stands all alone.
Brave is the patient – but braver than most,
The bread is slowly burnt into toast.

Come out to play
when the air vibrates with springtime
budding leaves replace the old
and hearts grow light with promise
as the earth spills out her gold
and so arrive the daffodils
in glorious array
to call us and enthrall us
and to take our breath away
