Ahotokurom update

Our parish's efforts to raise funds in support of the Ahotokurom Leprosy Village in Ghana have been recognised by the Friends of Ahotokurom newsletter. Continued thanks to all parishioners who have contributed. The newsletter also asks for prayers for the country and people of Ghana:

‘Ghana has elections this December. The country has now had 21 years of peace and democracy - this brings a degree of stability and some chance of being able to develop structures to support those in need. Our friends in Ghana have asked for our prayers for a peaceful election - they know the stability required for development! All around them are countries at war. With a bit more effort to reduce (or drop) crippling debt repayments and more of an opportunity for fairtrade policies we can see significant signs of hope. Maybe some years from now the situation in Ghana will have changed beyond all recognition … and we will be able to say that we have played some small part in that.’

So far the parish has raised over £3000 for Ahotokurom. Details of our efforts appear on a special notice board in the porch of the church. Watch out for details of future fundraising events in the Autumn and over the Winter.
