Searching for Meaning and Peace

Thanks to Mike McFarlane, who was among those recently confirmed in our parish, for telling us how his search ended with Christ at the focal point of his life.

In 2003 I attended the Alpha course at Selsdon Baptist Church, and found it to be fun and full of enthusiasm and religious debate among people from all walks of life and denomination. After completing the course, I felt impelled to begin my journey towards Christianity and the need to confirm Christ in my life which has helped me as person to find meaning and peace in my life.

In today's modern world many of us lose our priorities and become caught up with the 'hustle and bustle' of work with less time with our families and friends. I personally reached a point in my life which gave me lots of stress and unworthy satisfaction and I reached a point in my life where something had to be changed.

I had Christian friends whom seem to have a 'Glow' around them and had found contentment in their life. Christ was at their centre of their life and their priorities appeared to fall in line which led to happiness.

My life has now changed. My family life is my priority, with Christ as the focal point and I feel much happier in life and have my priorities in place.  I've found the important things in life are spending time together as a family, living for the moment, trying to forgive people around you that don't always do good by praying for them and building my spiritual relationship with God.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Fr Murtagh, Deacon Philip and everyone involved with the Sacraments Course at St Columba’s for all their support during the past several months.
